Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21 1982. Maggie Grace is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. Originally from Worthington Ohio, she dropped out of high school to move into Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. She was struggling to get by and was offered her first acting role as Rachel's Room's main character. The actress was able to secure an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford played Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004, and was awarded with her a Screen Actors Guild Award (with other cast members) with her. Grace was a co-star with Tom Welling on The Fog in 2005, decided to make the move into the world of film. The actress was as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. The role was reprised for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series for the last two episodes playing Shannon. She appeared in 2013's six-season of Californication. She portrays Faith a groupie and a muse to the stars who captures the interest of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens She began working in small roles for her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko with her brother. She then appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics in both of her roles as the main character in Secretary (2002), the erotic drama about romance as well as Sherrybaby (2006). She was also nominated by The Golden Globe Award. The Dark Knight, which came out in 2008 following many highly successful movies, such as World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child earned her nomination in an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. The roles she played in subsequent films include Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang and Hysteria. Some of her other parts include acting as a Secret Service agent of Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a singer for Secret Service in White House Down 2013, singing in Frank 2014 and also the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she portrays the main character. Gyllenhaal's first film as a writer and director was in 2021 with The Lost Daughter, a psycho-drama in which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. In addition, she won the Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
